XC90 Front control arms.
Think my bushes are shot (Ball joints already replaced) and although the idea of putting in poly bushes is appealing I don't have access to a press to do so ..... so looking at oem quality replacements. Meyle or lemforder would be my first choice but ££££! I have come across a few website offering SKF arms at what appears very low prices ... I always associated SKF with quality bearings.....but does this extend to control arms??
I may not be keeping the car much longer anyway as our crazy council (clowncil) are introducing a low emission zone next year and not being Cat6 I will be banned from entering. Any experience of the lower priced supposedly oem arms ??

If you're planning on keeping go for genuine, have you tried FRF? If not keeping the car go for whatever if your conscious can take it
I had non-genuine put on my S60 years ago (by trusted mechanic who assured me they were just as good), lasted until the next MOT, at which point they failed again, put genuine on myself........ they've lasted years and years. Put genuine on my xc90 about four years ago, they're also still going strong (funnily enough, less substantial looking than the S60 ones).

Yes
I would only use genuine Volvo suspension/steering parts.

I'm not pro poly or pro genuine, just giving my input
I've been in the Land Rover scene for years and we nearly all fit poly bushes now to the older ones. Mainly because the parts market these days is a gamble for OEM and the originals are SO expensive. Slightly stiffer ride with poly bushes but it feels safer and more responsive. Any way, the choice is yours but you don't need a press to remove a bush. You can drill the rubber out using a standard hole cutter leaving the sleeve. Take a standard cold chisel and cut an offset v in the blade. Now place the bigger side on the sleeve and hit with a hammer. It will act like a tin opener and cut through removing the sleeve. Poly bushes then just push in by hand with silicone grease. Not telling you what to do... Just information I wanted poly bushes for the rear of my wife's 90 but couldn't find them for love not money......lol |

This video from about 2 minutes. He shows you how to make the pairing chisel.
I use a hole cutter on a corded drill to drill the rubber out. Of course, if your refitting genuine you'll need a press. https://youtu.be/RD1C0IlnSKs |
