Must be strong springs on the 740 to hold that weight above yet still look unloaded

Pure nostalgia now, 'W.S.' but the sad thing is that I remember when those ads were current!

I've got a run of '60s Motor Show reviews and one of the most poignant ads in the 1965 edition is one promoting Smiths Industries. It shows a 5 year old at the wheel of a pedal car with the caption 'He'll drive a real one in 1977, and Smiths will ... ' That seemed a lifetime away as a 16 year old, now that lad will be a man of 60 himself! Scary stuff, but I try to remind myself that age is but a number, and that all things are relative!

Thanks for the nostalgia trips!

Regards, John.

In that case, John, you'll remember the 2CV ad that extolled the virtues of a transparent windscreen and a water-proof petrol tank. My favourite bit was the "Central Locking - you can reach all the door handles from the driver's seat".
