Default XC70 Wanted - 2006/7/8

Hi All,

New to the forum.

We need a tow car for the summer months - and it looks like the XC70 is the one!

On the look out now for a good, reliable, example!

£3k budget.

Many Thanks!

Scott

I think you'll struggle to pick up a P3 XC70 for £3k sir, more so in the current climate where used prices are very very strong. There's a couple listed for just over £3k but if that's you topping out (and I'd have a slush fund!) then really you're looking at a fairly average P2 car instead but tread carefully as they can be complete liabilities.

Cool

TURBODAVE is correct, you will need more Green Shield Stamps for a decent Mk2 XC70. The later xc70 is the Mk2 as opposed to the08 0n V70 which is the Mk3. But even the Mk1 XC70s are going well in excess of £3k, and having owned several of both models without real problems, I would think you possibly could get a high mileage one iro £3k if like myself you dont let Volvo high miles put you off.

The original V70XC was on the P80 platform. 2000 to 2007 is on the P2 platform; the 2008 on cars are the P3. £3k would get a very decent P2 and potentially a high mileage/uncared for P3. If it were my money, I’d be looking for a P2 that had been in long term ownership which had been cared for rather than run on the cheap. I wouldn’t worry about the mileage particularly providing it’s been cared for. Mine is a 2004 with the E3 engine. A facelift car with the E3 engine would be a fine thing to own.

Hi SigmF
not exactly local to you, but as an example of what you're looking for, my local indy volvo specialist has this ... https://www.shipham.co.uk/car_details.php?cID=399 on his forecourt atm.
all the best

I understand your interpretation of the XC70 models, however if you check any of the sites selling spares for post 07 XC70 cars they are referred to as P2 and not P3 models.

So they might, but it doesn't make them right.

The parts sites are wrong. Facelift models are P3, not P2.
