It's usually one of the 4 sensors in the bumper either not working or giving strange readings. Sometimes this can be caused by dirt on them or moisture from pressure washing.
If it comes to it the sensors are relatively inexpensive and can be changed without removing the rear bumper if you are prepared to carefully butcher the old one.

Clean using a soft brush (baby toothbrush) and check/clean the ring for dirt/crud and carefully run a cocktail stick round the ridge to clean out any muck that can give false readings, otherwise it can be a failed sensor or water ingress to the loom for the sensors ... its a well known XC90 issue.
I had mine replace under warranty , first the sensors, then the loom, after the updated loom, never had the problem again. Hope it helps

Give it a quick rinse before putting it back in the bathroom and the missus will be none the wiser

I had park assist service required the other day drove a couple of miles turned the ignition off and on then they worked again so i cleaned the sensors with WD40 just to make sure and they have been ok since i put it down to me not using it for two weeks
