Thank you very much for such a complete answer, I will look at the control unit model that I have, on the other hand, I have downloaded some electrical diagrams of S40 prior to 1998, and it seems that there is some error, could you tell me, with VIDA in hand, where the connection is connected 21 in the VGLA switchboard, ? The other connections are quite clear, but that one seems to go to another module, immobilizer? Theoretically, the VGLA is independent from the rest of the installation, in a typical centralized locking, in an alarm I don't know... can you send me that part of the electrical diagram by private message?

My copy of VIDA doesn't have the wiring diagrams, that is a separate bolt on module. I doubt many of the copies freely available have that facility. Mine does parts, workshop procedures and diagnostics via DICE. The diagnostics don't work on cars prior to 1999.

I have now looked under the steering wheel and I have a control unit, remote central locking only, but...
I find some splices in some cables, from a previous owner that I mount aftermarket remote closing... that doesn't work anymore, my idea is to put everything in order and reinstall a new used remote closing control unit, already with an alarm, the original for that model, because the pre-installation is already done, I bought it a long time ago thinking that it was not included since I only had two entry keys, can I do it and match the controls correctly?
Everything is from the first model and bought on ebay, although each article is on a different site. Can you reprogram the remote controls without visiting Volvo? I also have the ultrasonic ECU and the two roof sensors, all waiting to be tested and assembled. in the car
original switchboard that has 30824424, I'm going to put 30824425 which is with an alarm....

I don't know the answers to those questions as I have never had the need to work on the alarm. This forum is virtually dead these days with very little activity. If you are on Facebook join the Volvo S40 V40 classic 96 - 04 group. That is very active with members across Europe and I'm sure someone on there would be able to help.
