Default Looking for a caravan...

I've been an on and off caravan lover for years and looking to buy one again. There are quite a few bargains on ebay and gumtree, but thought I'd ask on here first to see if anyone has one for sale. Relatively low budget of £2000. Nearer to Oxford the better! Thanks

I can't help you with any caravans for sale but I would be very careful of any damp in that budget range. It can cost a fortune to put right.

I would buy a simple damp meter to take with you when looking.

Good luck & welcome back to caravanning.

I would also watch out for travelers vans for sale on gumtree etc. They will hide that fact from you therefore be careful.
You are often cheaper buying from a dealer because a lot of people think there van is worth the same as forecourt prices or even higher.

If you find you have to increase your budget, drop me a line ;-)
We are considering upgrading.

As said ( and nothing to do with selling mine), be very careful in that price range. We got very stung with a £2k van from a dealer 10 years ago. It was our first van and you could pretty much wring the water out of it. Cut our losses after chasing the damp for 2 years and bought the current van.

Thanks for responses. Would love to up the budget but need to think a bit more. And I have a damp meter for work, so that will defo be going with me... I'm an all year round caravaner when I do have one, so a dry van is very important!

wont be much damp in this weather, wait a few weeks, summers over, prices drop. Like ageing cars there will be some very good ones out there amongst the dross.
