2019 v60 d4 cc
Hi All,
While removing the engine tray to do a 6month oil change on my V60 I noticed that the DEF injector valve was covered in crystalised adblue fluid. There were also obvious sign of fluid sprayed around the exhaust area. It was apparent that the valve was failing although there wasn't any warning lights on the dash. I cleaned around it with a small wire brush and ordered a replacement. Within a few days of driving, the warning light came on; I plugged my OBD in and have the following error codes. P20EE00 - SCR Nox catalyst efficienct below threshold (bank 1) P2047 - Nox Sensor Memory (Bank 1 sensor 1) Algorithm based failure NRCM - P204713 - Reductant injection valve circuit/open bank (bank 1 Unit 1) general electrical failure. Seems like the injection valve is not operating correctly even after replacement or maybe a failing Nox sensor? Has anyone here had similar problems with their ad-blue emissions control who can advise and save me either a trip to the dealer or several hours in electrical testing etc? Thanks in advance. |

I visited the dealer today and managed to speak to a technician who advised that the new def injector needs coded to the computer.
Once this has been done it should operate correctly and resolve the Nox sensor error. The coding should take less than 1/2 hour so I won't lose the car for days while they investigate the issue. |

I have a 2019 V90 D4, the ad blue injector on my car was covered in crystallised ad blue. A tell tale for me was an excessive white covering inside the tail pipe exits.
I removed the injector and soaked it in hot water repeatedly, avoiding the electrical plug, to clean away the crystallised ad blue. I had no warnings or misbehaviour, still don't. Don't have the build up or excessive whiteness to exhaust pipes. I suggest cleaning and refitting the old sensor to avoid cost of recoding, as it might work again OK.

Thanks for your reply.
I think the original injection valve is now worn out or damaged? All the holes/perforations on the outside were full of white powder. I cleaned it with water but the build up returned within a few days of driving. I checked my exhaust pipes and they are white too...I hadn't noticed this before, probably because the chrome exhaust trims hide the tail pipes. I'm ok with the coding as it should take less than an hour to do. Next thing on the list which maybe related is a strange short rumble from the rear when accelerating right out of a junction. If not engine related I'll head to the awd section. I'll report back on how the car runs after the coding. |
