£25k??!! If I had that sort of money to spend it wouldn't go on a 16 year old 4.4L money pit with 5 previous owners.

I don’t understand why you would retrim the dash in “luxury vinyl….”, and the borderline mileage fraud….

It will be interesting to see if it sells and anywhere near this price.

I can see how the car could have cost this to create, and can only suggest that the owner enjoyed his labour and clearly thought it worthwhile, but I have to ask why?

I guess there is a unique requirement for some vehicles in my opinion, 'tarted up', and can only say good luck to him.

Imagine if we still had our old spitfires mr 'T'. They would they have rotted away to nothing, and at least this unlikely to happen to an old XC90. One day they will all become a classic and perhaps this is the start?

Thanks for highlighting this item, it certainly raises eyebrows.

However, I wont hold my breath for my old my03 to start going up in price!

That's a interesting point. I still have my Spitfire, 31 years on, and it's value now is that it is very close to original. If you look at the various body kits that were popular and available at the time for the Spitfire and other similar vehicles of the day, having a car now with such a kit fitted, however good the condition may be, will likely have the residual value of a half eaten Mars bar.

I get it would have been a labour of love to create, but none of the work or modifications really adds any value, and the fact that it will likely be a complex and expensive car to insure will likely detract.

Although it has recieved a new (replacement?) engine, he hasn't changed the gearbox, torque converter, angle drive, steering rack etc......... so the mileage did not "drop down...."

Further proof that money can't buy taste.

That said, I quite like the head lining retrim (minus the blue stitching), especially as the fabric has started to separate on mine in places. I'm still not throwing money at that though, for a 16 year old car I'll live with it.

I've no idea why the owner thought it was worth spending that much time and effort on upgrading the sound dampening. Mine is near silent anyway, save noise that won't be eliminated that way e.g. transmission through glass.

I get the impression that I am very glad this person in not my neighbour..

Ermm... I think the cash is somewhat in the bin as he'll never see any notable return on the 18k he's spent I think....

Each to their own, really.

My classic shape Impreza Turbo only has Subaru bits added to it, but there are lots of chavved-up examples loitering with intent on eBay ! They are the subject of much Mickey taking on the Scooby forum
