Hi All

I have been getting a text message:

Parking Light Bulb Failure

But i seems to appear intermittently. I noticed it a few weeks ago on the way to work, but it had gone off on the way home. It came on a few days later, but off again next time I got in to the car.

What is the "parking light?"

I had that with the XC90 - it was a rear sidelight bulb that had blown. It wasn't intermittent however.

Side lights basically.

You have two in each rear light cluster and one in the front light cluster.

Turn the lights on and have a look around the car, if it is intermittent maybe just a lose bulb.

Remember to check for two bulbs in the rears though, easy mistake to notice one of them lit and miss the other.

There is actually 3 in the rear light cluster. There is a third which is a side marker which is located at the lower side edge of the unit. The system tends to indicate an anticipated failure as well as actual failures. I'll have a root about to see if I can find the thread on this which was posted a while back.

Here it is: http://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showth...t=bulb+failure

If you put "bulb failure" in search it comes up with loads of threads about it, pretty common!

Yup happens at least once a week to me.
I tend to ignore it now, it usually goes off after 30 secs or so once I've started moving.

When I first got the car (May) I messed about swapping bulbs around ... it is always the same liight location, regardless of which bulb is in it.
Must be a poor connection somewhere.

Doesn't bother me now!!

Seany, have you checked the little side marker bulb? I'll bet it's that one. I never realised it was there until someone at work showed me.

I know which bulb position it is, when it kept happening in my first couple of weeks of ownership, I could simply knock on the red lens and it would come back on.

I eventually did a bulb swap around ..... the same bulb POSITION still, on a weekly basis, causes the text message. Usually when I first turn turn it on in the morning.

When it fails to go out (the text message) after approx 30 secs, then I know I have a problem!!

When I went out earlier I noticed that only 1 bulb was on on the off-side. A 'wiggle' seemed to fix it so I'll keep an eye on it. Ill have a look for loose wires when I get chance at the weekend.

Thanks

Mark
