The seat belt extension stops the ding dong working and puts out the dash lamp any time that it is in use, whether or not the actual seat belt is in use.

I just don't trust the seatbelt extension thingy in case of an accident. The last thing I need is for the thing to prove faulty as I go through the windscreen....

The seat belt bong does my head in, hated it from new but the stealer said it couldn't be killed. Now it looks like it may be possible with a VCT, I know a man who has one of those, I think I'll give him a call

The seat belt extension "thingy" appears well made and I would not use it if I was in any doubt as to ifs safety. I say that as a convinced belt user who used to install them on my cars before there use became compulsory.
For those who wish to silence the ding dong there is a simple remedy.

I have to agree. Why go to so much fuss to cancel the alarm when you could just wear your seatbelt?

I don't understand why anyone would not want to wear a seatbelt.

I always wear it, but why does the damn thing have to bong 5 times when I start the car?
I want to get in, start up, belt up and go. I want to let the engine tick over for a few seconds before I pull away to let the oil pressure etc sort itself out, I don't need the car to remind me to belt up, I'm in the process of doing that
Also, my drive is about 300 yards long with gates at each end, I'd like to be able to drive it without putting the belt back on.....belt off, belt on, belt off, belt on, belt off, park
(no, electric gates wouldn't work, can't be fitted)

I do wear a seat belt, but it may be 30 seconds before I put it on, with reversing, maneouvring, etc - and it's really annoying being bonged at while you're doing all that.

Hope that explains it for for all those who think that anyone wanting to de-bong is the spawn of Be'elzebub himself.

Apologies for reposting myself but TiredGeek reminded me and gave me a good laugh - always welcome.
Dave Allen did a routine in the 70s about his new talking Volvo.
Door open - went the feminine voice.
OK, I've shut the door
Fasten seatbelt - she insisted.
OK, I've fastened the b&%$*y thing.
Boot open.........
Why did she wait till now to tell me that?

If anyone has driven one of the new Passats with the electronic handbrake, you'll find it won't auto-release unless have your seatbelt on.
Another frustrating feature, along with the bing-bong.
