Hi Mark,

Tee Hee

Right now onto car related stuff, I meant to clarify with you yesterday as you had suggested

"More likely rear torque bushes causing the clunk/ shunt"

Torque bushes, do you mean those on the panhard rod locating the axle?? or the bushes at the front of the swing arm that fix to the bottom of the rear shocks??

Cheers
Steve

PS - Scrub that, look at the parts guide diagrams first before asking a stupid question !!!

Managed to get order into FRF for a load of service parts, however a bit disappointing that most of my list is sitting in Sweden.

UK stock
Oil Filter, Sump Washer, Bougicord HT Leads, Dashboard Bulbs & 4L Coolant

Sweden Stock
Air Filter, Spark Plug Kit, Dist Cap, Expansion Tank & Cap, Thermostat and Seal, Coil King Lead

No Longer Available
Rotor Arm, Engine Mounts

For what they could supply just over £350 after VOC member discount that ranged from 15 - 32%

Plan is to do full service, then investigate further the lift off shunt issue, possibly the torque bushes as suggested by Mark. Hopefully the rain will stop to make grovelling around under motors a bit more palatable.

Cheers

As long as you buy a good quality Bosch rotor arm you will be fine.

Hi Mark,

Noted, many thanks.

Have you done the rear torque bushes yourself before? if so, how difficult??

When you mentioned it, I did search on the forum FAQ guide and look at the parts diagram on GCP Sweden, it seems the job can be a bit of a bu**er but that in most cases not all bushes in the assembly will wear and need replacing.

The plan is to run this motor till I get all my house maintenance stuff sorted and my workshop extension done hopefully mid/late summer. Then get my old Wentworth in the workshop to sort the cooked engine. Once that's sorted, I would look to offload the runabout 940 with 250K miles as the space could be put to much better use.

MOT on the runabout expires in June, so I was perhaps going to wait till May, put in for a ticket, and if bushes or engine/gearbox mounts need changing, do so at that point.

Cheers
Steve

I've removed the arms but not replaced the bushes. I have access to a large press so it's never been a problem for me replacing or removing bushes. I would imagine that one would be a pain to replace in rubber. Easier with poly as you can leave the centre metal sleeve out whilst installing.

Sorry, but still regarding the knob, how did you do it? did you have to cut the extention the prev owner had welded? Did you use the regular grooves to fit the new tip (i'm trying to avoid using words like knob, shaft, etc. but tip ain't much different either)? And what about the leather bellow? Did it come with the knob? Genuine questions. I have to do the same to mine in the very near future.

Hi SalvadorP

I was very fortunate in that the previous owner had cut the lever approx 10mm above the reverse pull up ring, then he had welded around 30mm of threaded rod M12.

I found this on Amazon

https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07T3M4V...roduct_details

Literally was unscrew the old metal extension, and fit the new one. Only slight issue was the plastic threaded sleeve was a bit loose, so I glued it, left overnight and then screwed on, 3 small grub screws add extra fixing.

Hope yours may be just so simple.

Cheers
Steve
