Default Volvo 240SE How many left?

I have noticed that prices for 240 models are going up so had a quick look on the How May Left website. makes for interesting reading. These figures are for on the road vehicles only:
2004...............2000 vehicles
2005...............1800
2006...............1500
2007...............1300
2008...............1100
2009............... 877
2010............... 726
2011............... 581
2012............... 486
2013............... 406
2014 current.... 383

Are becoming an endangered marque?

In 1968 I bought a then 22 year old Riley for £110, now worth £6000-£7000.

My 240 is 22 years old, purchased for £400. So what will it be worth in 46 years? Will we still have petrol in 46 years?

240s are certainly coming out of the "old banger" category, and the fact that there is an owners' club and this forum bodes well. That said, there is an Austin Allegro owners' club too, so who knows what the future is?

Perhaps an endangered model (Volvo being the marque) ? I would have thought the SE derivative would have been more likely to survive as surely they were among the most common models from 1988-1989 on...being the fleet version. Plus all the runout Torslanda models (in the UK) were 2.0 litres.

And perhaps other derivatives will end up being the rarer/less commonly seen as they have less utility (than estates).

Just a thought.

Jon.

P.S how's the River Shin fishing these days...caught my first salmon (15lbs) there.

Shin has had a reasonable season from the reports I have heard. On the other hand our west coast rivers have not done well. Lack of water and lack of fish generally......
