Default Opening boot from key fob

With the powered tailgate, the boot can be opened with a long press on the boot button on the key fob. Is it possible to easily disable this feature as I have a couple of times now, opened the boot by bending over with the keys in my pocket and I only know it's happened when the app catches up and sends a message to say the boot's open. Last night, I was a hundred yards or so from the car, which wasn't visible to me, so I've no idea how long it was open before the app 'buzzed'. Luckily nothing was taken from the boot as it was in a quiet area, but I'prefer it if this didn't happen.

This isn't peculiar to the Volvo, I've had the same problem with previous cars, so it must be having a fat arse that causes the button to be pressed!

Perhaps use a hardshell type keyfob case, there are all sorts of generic or custom ones.

Thanks, it's a thought worth looking at. But I'd prefer it if it could be disabled to avoid an even bulkier key. I'll have a look around at them.

So it 'might' be possible to disable your key fob by removing the correct fuse.
A 2024 C40 owner on an XC40 forum has said that removing 5A fuse (29) disables both the foot control and boot open function on the key fob. Your V60 might be different. So check your fusebox layout and functions.

Further - Here is a link for the fusebox (near glovebox) but it does seem to state for your car the fuse only controls the foot motion option, could try though and see.

Remember if you do manage to remove this function to check that the boot still locks with the fob with the other doors.

You could always open the key fob up and remove the rubber bit under the button so it stops working when it's pressed. Been a while since I opened it up but I think there was.

I also find this a massive pain in the @rse. To the point that when locking the car I now carefully carry my keys until out of range, then put the keys on my pocket.

Diabling boot kick does not disable the button on the fob. I have a retro fitted switch to disable boot kick and the fob still opens the boot.

What type of key fob do you have? I've never had an issue like you. Do you keep other things in your pocket with your key?

In my experience it all depends on how small your pockets are and how tight your trousers are.

I use one of these- doesn’t make the key any bulkier, adds a premium touch to an already premium looking key, protects it from wear + no accidental door/trunk opening.
