I guess that is something you don't see everyday.

Although I could only see the pictures in a small frame, the daily build sheet looks like they just made one.

Is a 165 made by putting the rear panels on a 164 or the front wings and engine etc on a 145? I assume the chassis rails would be wider in the 160s, hence the problem with swapping the powersteering box over.

A very interesting car, please keep the pictures coming.

Regards

Mike.

Mike

I think the 140 and 160 chassis rails are the same width. But there are longer in a 164; the wheelbase is 100mm more, all of which is ahead of the bulkhead. I believe it's that which makes the angles wrong for a 164 steering box used in a 140.

Qulte few 165 conversions have been built over the years, but this seems to the only one Volvo ever did.

Smile volvo 165 get down and dirty

Ok the old girl is down to a body shell totally gutted. The rust issue is not so good , the back windows were basically held in with filler a bit in the sills but front sections are not so bad but she goes off to the sand blaster next week so more issues might arise. Im looking for a good donar car to get some rear quarters off but even they are getting scarce i dont about over there, are 145 early models much around. Next week some more photos will be posted.Regards John
