Default Coding a rear fuse box replacement

Hi,
I put the wrong brake light bulb in my Volvo V70-2001 causing initially the petrol fuel gauge to malfunction and the hatchback to remain unlocked eventually leading to the brake light remaining on.
Took it to the local auto-electrical garage who advised me this could be fixed with either a front or rear fuse box replacement.
I bought a rear fuse box which the engineer installed resulting in the problem persisting.
I read on various forum pages that a replacement fuse box would need to be reprogrammed in order for it to recognise devices on the car.
The engineer informed me that the rear fuse box does not need coding but the front fuse box-which I was about to buy-does need coding.
Can anyone confirm that a Volvo V70 2001 requires coding for the front fuse box but does not need coding for the rear fuse box?
In over 30yrs of motoring this electrical fault has caused the most grief.
The car had passed its MOT in October... apart from the bulb remaining lit.
It has done 130,000 miles and was a joy to ride.
Any help would be appreciated.

Ok, firstly you’re in the section for the newer model V70.

However from memory, the fusebox at the side of the dash on your model is just a fusebox.
The ‘engineer’ is probably referring to the CEM (central electronics module) which is one of the main computer modules in the car, that lives under the drivers side (RHD) of the dash. Not sure on the rear fuse box, but think it just houses fuses and relays.

The diagnosis from the ‘engineer’ is ringing many alarm bells for me. I can’t see how an incorrect bulb is going to render a fusebox permanently unserviceable.

Have they provided a list of errors reported by VIDA? That will shed light onto the faults.
