The terminals at either side of rear screen that power the heater elements.
Check for tightness and clean bright connection surfaces....It surprising how much voltage drop is created by loose and/or dirty terminals.

At launch:
ABL xenons were standard on SE Lux and Executive
Non-ABL xenons were optional on SE and SE Sport (+£700)
However an "ABL Pack" was also optional on SE & SE Sport which included ABL, heated seats, heated washer jets and luxury floor mats (+£1000 SE / +£975 SE Sport).

So most people probably plumped for the ABL pack.

As usual, this is different in different markets. As an example, the SE and SE Lux designations were never used on the hom market, in Sweden. We had basic (no special name), Kinetic, Momentum and Summum equipment levels. There were also additions like R-design, on the sporty side, and Business Edition, typically for company cars.

Obviously, the content of these packages varied widely across different markets.

Then why does my Dad’s car not have ABL, when his is an SE Lux spec? (V70 P3 on a 57 plate).

Interesting... I was quoting the S80 MY08 price list, seems things were different for the V70, confusingly only non-ABLs were standard on SE Lux with the ABLs a £250 upgrade option.

My only suggestion is that it was because it was such an early car. I can't think I've ever seen another SE Lux without ABL, so it must be a real rarity. Loiter for long enough and you find an exception to every rule, though!

I suppose there's always the possibility that the original owner ordered the car with an ABL delete, if they didn't like the idea of it...?

That makes sense. That’s why my Dad’s V70 hasn’t got them.
