I see. If it's like in Sweden, you aren't allowed to add extra light for the dipped beam.
When I was a young kid it was legal here, but not for decades now.

I too find the Xenon lights much better than halogen. The sharp line is there because you have good light all the way up to the limit. Not fading away like the old ones.

When I bought my XC70, I found the previous owner was putting up with the dipped beams set very low and was able to adjust them upwards without blinding oncoming drivers and when the car was MoT tested the lights passed a beam test so they are legal. Since then I have been totally satisfied with them.

For some reason Volvo's seem to leave the factory with the dipped beam angle set very low and not all dealers would appear to adjust them at the PDI. When halogen & Xenon lights were common 3+ years ago lots of threads on here about them being set very low and vast improvements were possible within the MOT limits.

Thanks. I'll check out the alignment.

Happy to give you a demo if you'd like.
That sounds great.

Have you got a video or picture of it?

Non-Volvo image warning for those of a sensitive nature! I don't have a video unfortunately, but could probably extract something from my dashcam if it would help.

On second Volvo P3 V70. 1st had halogen and 2nd has ABL Xenon.

Halogens I didn't rate, especially at dusk

Xenons ABL, I saw an improvement, but I didn't think were too bright. I had come from a Seat Leon with matrix LED and remembered previous xenon equipped cars being brighter.

I read and found out that Xenon bulbs, don't just fail they wear out and loose their brightness. I presumed mine were still the original bulbs and of course they always switched on when the engine is running. So bought new bulbs but slightly whiter light, without going blue. The lights went back to how they should be.

Whilst at it replaced the side lights to LED to make it look a bit more modern.
