With regards to my leaky windscreen post circa 10 days ago, since then I have reported the fault to Volvo UK, they instructed me to go to my local Volvo dealer, which I duly did. They sent a report to Volvo UK who then agreed to rebond the windscreen as an act of goodwill. I was warned that if the windscreen broke I'd be liable, which I accepted. However all went according to plan on Friday and I am now the extremely happy owner of a leak free 2010 V70. I cant speak highly enough of Volvo UK and my local dealer (Dundee). Faith in the human race has (temporarily) been restored!

Default V70 2008 D5 SE and C70 2009 D5

Both our Volvos (2008 V70 and 2009 C70) would hvae water in the footwells on occasion. When the V70 was in at our local dealer (Kastner Exeter) for the seatbelt recall, they asked if there was anything else to look at so I told them about the water ingress and said both cars do it. They confirmed the bonding on the screen had failed and filmed the movement in the screen when it was pressed by hand. I suggested they should sort it out it as it's presumably structural and shouldn't fail, it was a genuine Volvo screen installed at the factory when the car was made etc. They weren't interested and just quoted £636 to fit a new screen because they were quite confident it'd break when taken out.
I just had BOTH cars done at our local independent garage for £114 per windscreen inc vat. The bonding was so poor on each that the windscreens came out easily and no breakage occurred.
Wasn't overly happy with the reaction of a Volvo dealer but, equally, wasn't really surprised and getting it done at a local indie saved me the best part of £1000.

Most dealers don’t like re-bonding windscreens… they rather fit new ones. Those that do re-bond them advise that if the existing windscreen breaks upon removal (has to be a genuine Volvo one), then they aren’t liable for the cost & you have to pay for a replacement.

At least its fixed, but technically, it shouldn’t have cost you anything. The dealership should have sent that footage to Volvo UK, who usually offer repairs free of charge as a gesture of goodwill. I guess the dealership you visited just fobbed you off and told you it’d break so you’d go elsewhere. Poor customer service.

I’m certain my dealer in Dundee got the windscreen redone by a third party, and Volvo UK ultimately footed the bill. All I can say is that my dealer was first class, which I know isn’t always the case.

I have a 2012 v70 and volvo have just agreed to rectify the leak following an email to customer service. It's booked in on Thursday.
The local dealer is sending it to a "specialist" nearby so I assume it's autoglass or similar.

So, dropped the car off on Thursday morning at Stoneacre Stockton.

Got a call mid afternoon, to say they'd broken the screen when removing it and would have to order a new one.

Fair play to Stoneacre, they paid for everything so I now have a brand new screen, fully waterproof at no cost to me.

I can't speak highly enough of Stoneacre volvo.

Default 2009 V70 Windscreen replaced by dealer FOC

My 2009 V70 2.4D R-Design developed this problem...I had about two inches of water in the passenger footwell after a storm. My dealer, Lloyd Volvo in Carlisle, replaced the windscreen and removed various carpets, then dried out the entire car. All was done free of charge.

Had a new windscreen fitted yesterday due to large stone chip. New screen fitted by Auto Windscreens - first class job, quick and efficiently done. Fitter said there was no sealant at all along the top of the screen - he showed me - clean as a whistle. I have only ever had one dribble on the inside.
Fitter said stone chip did me a favour

I'm desperately hoping for the same. Our 2009 V50 bonding has gone all along the top of the screen. Volvo have agreed to re-bond for free but if it doesn't go to plan I'll have a bill. It's booked in for next week and, though it's not my nearest dealer, I'm hoping for a similar experience to yourself.

Update: Not gone to plan. Glass came off in one piece but the top rubber seal tore off so the screen is now useless. To their credit, Volvo in Dundee asked Volvo Customer care for a goodwill gesture towards a replacement but Volvo declined so I'm left with a £370 bill.

Makes the decision really easy. We're replacing the car next year and it won't be a Volvo. That's two cars from Volvo I've had the same issue with and twice the same outcome. Great looking cars but unimpressed by customer service when it comes to defective manufacture.
