The thing that stands out from an internet search is that this part costs twice as much in the UK than in the USA! UK £54, Latvia £43 US $23. Quite shameful. Really worth searching that bit harder.

Thanks - really helpful! The part number you posted led me via googling to post #10 here which is the same situation I have:

https://www.swedespeed.com/threads/b...upsize.591329/

When I checked, the part number of my standard (shallow) battery cover lid is 31212002 and the alternative part certainly looks less tapered to accommodate a longer, higher battery.

Working on tracking down the part for a reasonable cost in the UK, as mentioned above, it seems rather cheaper in the US! Volvotradeparts via eBay currently looking favourable.

I had the same issue with mine. The new battery (Yuassa) is more powerful than the old one & it fits in the battery tray, but the lid won’t close.

I put the lid on as best I could (front clips won’t close), then I taped it up to close the gap. To this day it hasn’t come off.

Just to update this, I ordered the deeper battery lid part number 31335286 from volvotradeparts on eBay - £37 inc postage, quite expensive but the best price I could find.

Great service as usual and it arrived in a few days. However, it didn’t fit my battery box as the clips didn’t line up and the front profile as a little different. I sent it back for a refund no problem and have since adopted a more heath robinson approach like Kev with the original lid, but I secured mine with some Velcro straps. Saved £37 and looks fine to be honest

Velcro straps sound better than my botch job with tape, but its held up!
