S40 1.8i to 1.9d??

Hello all I'm Jamie, new to this forum. I've currently got a 03 v40 1.9d sport and a 03 S40 1.8i. It's fair to say the v40 is scrap due to the state of the rear arches both full sills are shot. But the engine and box are good at 192k. I have seen a guy on here by the name matt86? Iirc.. he did the same thing but just it was a V40 to V40. The condition of the s40 is brilliant, bar the engine is tappety as a diesel as the previous owner didn't check oil and was run quite low.I know its a pretty straightforward swap in terms of engine and tank etc. My questions are would the 6 airbag system still work with the v40s 4 setup? I know the airbag unit is separate module but will it still all work together? Am I going to need some wiring loom from a S40 1.9d? I'm going to start pulling up the interior of the v40 to look closer myself I just hope a few people could shed some light on this conversion.

I would doubt there's anything straightforward about this. I would expect you'd have to change the engine management too, so you'll be dismantleing the interior as well. You'd have to practically rebuild the entire front end. And good luck feeding wires through the dashboard and into the engine bay via the offside inner wing ... (shudders)

Not saying it's impossible, but you'd have to be really super desperate to try it.

If you decide to scrap the diesel - i'm desperately in need of the fuel pumps. I say pumps (plural) because I don't know which one is failing, so I'll buy both if you'd be willing to sell.

I really am in 2 minds whether I can and have the time... taking out an engine or interior isn't major work. Its swapping the loom and tank that bothers me more. but I just can't cope with the lack of power and economy from the 1.8i. I've worked out the noise from the engine is the VVC. Pm me regarding the fuel pumps
