The previous V70 had a write up in the Sunday Times. Google it.

It had 5 service books, gearbox replaced at 400K, original engine, including Turbo.

My present car (for sale) is moon distance away in condition, together with a service history similar to that of the former car. And one owner for 13 years who clearly looked after it.

Hence the asking price. Yes, there are cheaper examples out there.

You get what you pay for.

I don’t need to google it as it happens as I read it and found it so interesting I read it a second time! Yes a very interesting article! I like the way you mentioned that you were changing the gearoil and adding stop slip and it went on for a long time like that, probably long enough for the average person to finish up with the car!

I suppose the nature of your work means warmed up vehicle that’s driven reasonably sympathetically!

Good work on the original one!

I dont see the point you are driving at?

That was a previous car with moon distance miles, and an article written about the previous owner who had feathered the gearbox before replacement and my ownership years later?

And of absolutely zero relevance to the car in question for sale.

My mistake, I thought you were the driver of the original car mentioned in the article, not that you bought it from him.

I don’t have a point, I have not mentioned the price etc I just thought it was a pretty cool article and would I’ve interested in hearing how you achieved those miles. Mine is at 110,000 now and I want to keep it as long as I can.

Good luck with the sale! 🙂

No problem at all.

All I can say with regards to the D5 is that they are bullet proof engines if looked after.

There are plenty out there that have not been looked after and then problems (sometimes costly) ensue.

My last V70 sold with 621K miles on it for £750 3 years ago. Still see it around.

Like mine it had been looked after - no new turbo required, etc as you state.

There is junk out there & there are those that have been looked after.
Only needed new turbo for peace of mind when towing our 28ft twin axle van to the south of France, it’s maintained fastidiously, and looks the business.

I would love another V70 T5...but manual. My 2000 model car developed the dreaded geartronic failure and had to be scrapped. It was near mint, I was absolutely gutted. Quoted £3000-3500 for a rebuild, or chance another secondhand box which the gearbox specialist said was a no-no. Best car I have ever had. Still think that I should've kept it and chanced a replacement box.

Sorry, haven't looked in here for a while - yes the car could be for sale but I haven't bothered trying to sell it - have been happy pottering since original post.

With the Goodyear Vector Gen2 tyres fitted it would be a good winter proposition. The mileage has increased by 6K since (now showing 257K) without drama & long term mpg showing 44+

Now had it for 2 years and it has been and still is a loyal & dependable servant.
