Default Front Wishbone Bushes/Tracking

Hi All, I had some new front tyres and tracking done at a Halfords Autocentre last week. Not very impressed I have to say but that's a different story. Driving away I noticed that the steering wheel was slightly to the right when going straight so concluded they hadn't centred it properly when adjusting the tracking. I also found on my first motorway run that they hadn't balanced the wheels very well so it went back in to them today. They have re-balanced the wheels (hopefully right now but not been fast enough to tell) but they said they couldn't get the steering wheel straight as they say that my wishbone bushes are too worn so however much they adjust it it will find it's own centre. I wasn't convinced by this description so they asked me to come under the ramp and take a look at which point the technician guy put a jemmy behind the wishbone at the bush and levered it back and forth to show how much movement there was in the rubber bush. To me the amount of movement looked pretty normal for the size of rubber bush and there was certainly no sign of the rubber deteriorating so I'm left thinking they are full of s**t and can't be bothered to adjust the tracking properly and are looking for an excuse. Just checking, is anyone aware of issues with these bushes? Mine is a V70 September 2009 2.0d R Design with about 56k under its belt. The steering and handling feel the same as when new, no play/noises etc.
