Default S80 driver frontal stage1 deployment pls help!

Hi all, please could someone advise me? I have an airbag warning on my screen which will not clear with a reader.it's says code b0001 Driver Frontal stage 1 deployment control. General failure.
I've read that this could be something to do with a connector on the steering wheel and also possibly a bad connection on the air bag control module by the centre console but not sure where to look.
Could somebody please advise if there is anyway I could test this fault as it showing on the display is quite annoying, Especially with the new mot rules out shortly.
Many thanks to anyone who can advise me.
Ps I do have mechanical knowledge, electrical limited but if I could be pointed in the right direction I could ask a friend whose an auto electrician to check it out for me
Cheers

Never touch airbag wiring with a multimeter. (ok, the new ones use PWM signal for airbag deployment but better safe than sorry!)
