I don't want to jump the gun too soon, but I've driven a handful of miles post-repair courtesy of the garage and all seems to be fine; noises have disappeared.

They were able to replace the transmission mount to the correct square item with offset threads, and also the RHS engine mount (the one under the oil filter) but apparently couldn't replace the LHS one? 🤔 According to them the LHS mount is fine though and, for now, I'll live with it because the car works and I don't have the time nor facilities to go about tackling it myself.

Again, it's still early days but I'm willing to bet if it works now, it'll hold out for a good while yet.

Cheers again all, and if anything further happens, I'll update.

... a garage that was unable to change the LHS engine mount? I think you need to find a new garage.

The easiest one of the 3 to change!
Did they order 2 right hand ones and realise too late their mistake?
Glad the noise has gone though.

I was wondering about that Bob. The issue is that the set up work for the RHS and transmission mounts would have been about the same for all 3, so they will change it again when the LHS needs to be swapped in 2 years time.

If that is the case the OP ought to start looking for a more competent garage.

I haven't had any problems with them before but yeah... To be fair my experience with another round here wasn't much better (an occasional no start when hot on my first car 'diagnosed' after 3 WEEKS with a new battery which didn't even cure it... Ah, back when I didn't know a thing).

A new garage will be on the cards though since I graduate from uni this summer. And hopefully, if all goes well, this time next year I'll have a company car getting paid for me, so the 240 can be re-retired to second car duties at which point I can obviously start tackling more myself with less risk of the whole 'I can't get anywhere... eek'.
