Am having the same problem with my c30 d, I've changed the left wheel bearing, replaced my drive shaft, checked all ball joints and swapped my tyres round, yet the humming noise is still there, it's driving me insane, volvo parts are not cheap lol, has anyone got a solution
Thanks |

Guards are okay. We had that problem once before and it sounded a lot worse than this. Good idea though.

This is what I thought, even though the sound is coming from the left. If this bearing replacement doesn't sort it I will change the FOS bearing. They are saying it could be the transmission but I doubt that very much as it goes quiet when turning right. I am getting annoyed with this and I am starting to doubt their competence.

It is fixed. It was the inner driveshaft bearing. As soon as that was changed the noise went away. Lovely. Whole thing including new front pads and rotors was £500 which I thought was reasonable.
Road noise is louder on my V50 but that is almost certainly the tyres (currently Falken) as it is consistent so when they expire I will change them for a more premium brand. Any recommendations?
