Default Squealing in Hot Weather

Hello,

bit of an odd one. I have a 2015 XC60 D4 AWD, which has generally been trouble free. However, in hot weather it makes a loud squeal for a few seconds a short while after starting (it sounds a bit like belt squeal). The noise disappears and the car otherwise runs fine.

I had the belts replaced last summer to fix this, which seemed to work but then the weather cooled down. In the last few days of this glorious weather it has come back through.

It is more likely to happen if the car has been standing still for a while, i.e. less likely after a short stop (like filling up with diesel).

Any thoughts on what could be causing this?

Thanks for your comment.

I would have to check with the garage, but I assume they are not Volvo specific.

Aux belt quality is very important and should be changed at 54000 mile intervals . I would get a volvo one fitted. This noise could be caused by a seized alternator pulley. ( It should lock in the drive direction but be free to slip in the opposite direction )

Thanks for you help. I'll get the garage to check out the alternator pulley (and all the others while they are at it). if they are going that far fitting a new belt is not much additional cost so I'll get that done anyway.
