Default Chirping noise at high revs

Hi

On my diesel Xc90 2007 I noticed today that when I accelerate hard, there's a chirping (about 4 chirps) noise before the Rev needle hits the red line and the gearbox changes gear.
This happens in 1st,2nd and 3rd gear. Not sure about the other gears as I don't drive that hard !

All the belts were changed by Volvo 20,000 miles ago and the noise has never happened previously.

I was wondering if it's the alternator pulley or the turbo ?

Otherwise the engines running fine and fuel economy has stayed the same.

Thanks

Alternator pulleys have a nominal service life of 80k but tend to last considerably longer. My original failed around 165k but failure rates seem to vary from 120k+
Whip the aux belt off and if the noise goes, it's a pulley issue.

With the belt off, the way to test a clutch pulley is to insert a screwdriver through one of the holes in the alternator to stop the fins.
Try to turn the pulley by hand COUNTER clockwise. You shouldn't be able to move it.
If you can move it counter clockwise, you need a new pulley.

With the screwdriver still inserted, now try to turn the pulley by hand CLOCKWISE and it should turn smoothly.
If it turns ok clockwise, your clutch is fine.
If it won't turn or if it is rough, you need a new clutch pulley.

Could someone give an indication how freely the OAP should turn in the freewheel direction? Mine locks as expected in the drive direction but it takes a screwdriver jammed in the fins and 'firm finger pressure' to get it to rotate in the freewheel direction - although it feels smooth.
Is this right, or should it freewheel easily?
