i was after one aswell, i have never used one but i knew they were suppoosed to be good. i have just got;
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/OBD-II-Kiwi-Wi...ools_Equipment

and its great, it doubles up as a code reader and also gives you live data about the car, iat, coolant temp, maf rate, mpg, and quite a lot more. The only catch is that you need to have an iphone/ipod touch.

this app, is a free one and is better than the one i have paid for. if you click the link it does explain a little more.

http://www.fuzzyluke.com/

and this app is the paid for app, it again, explain things better than i can!

http://www.devtoaster.com/

if anyone wants to know more about it, just ask me and ill do my best! im in manchester if anyone wants to actually have a look at it!

hope this helps someone!

cheers,

A good find!

Is there any info on it for what protocol it's communicating on/what vehicles it will/won't work on?

nice find, but thats a LOT of £ for just resetting generic engine only codes, the £30-£40 range of scanners will do that. Does it talk to the gearbox? the SRS/airbag ? the ABS ? etc etc systems ?

I have no idea is the simple answer regarding the protocol. My dad has a p1 v70, vie got a p2, my mate has a v40 and vie also plugged it in to a Clio a d it all seems ok.
The fuzzycar app does work with abs and airbags, ive not checked the other one.
I see what your saying a out it only being a jumped up code reader but for this that want a little more live info, it's a handy thing to have.
The cable does also work with laptops so you can have the proper datalogging software and more compressive code reading software which is easily downloaded. I use a mac so its not an option for me. The phone thing however, is great for me as a "quick fix" thing and a little bit of gadgetry!

Yeah, the lead is only a wireless obd lead really, it just makes it easier to connect to. I suppose that it would depend on the software you use! The "app" I have says that it talks with all safety systems and allows you to turn codes off etc. If you click on the bay link, it shows you some sample software that they use for data logging on the laptop.

Just to let you know, last night I had the lead plugged into a brand new insignia. It came up with more info than it did on my Volvo, like exhaust temp, cat temp and tje boost gauge aswell. I'm still impressed with it and ao far its been worth me buying it.

Like others I am looking for a reader for my 2000 S80 B5204 T5 engine. Is there anyone in Ireland near Waterford who can advise.
