Fair enough and if you'd said this ^^^^^ initially, no-one would have said anything.

I think people reacted because you stated the price with an exclamation mark, said it was expensive and capped it off with 3 sad face emojis..... It sounded like it was a problem for you and it sounded like people were suggesting how you could mitigate costs.

Also true. However the final bill was a quarter of what I paid for the car. Price is subjective. How much you are willing to pay to keep the car you want as opposed to buying a replacement and still having bills is only a decision you can make. Personally, for me, this bill was the same amount I would have had to pay to keep my previous S80 on the road, and that was an 03 reg. This is an 11 reg and personally I think was worth it.
Regardless of how your finances are, these decisions have to be made either by head or heart. I went with heart. Still a shock though 😂

So last Sunday was time to go out and that's when it was a bit warm outside and not lashing down with rain.
Set the climate control to LO and full fan to enjoy a blast of warm air.
I leave the AC button on all the time but clearly I'd neglected the needs of the compressor/seals. So off to the garage for a fix.
I had to resort to opening the windows!
I guess it will be reassuringly expensive with special Volvo parts fabricated by pixies.

Turns out that it was simply a hose that had 'fallen off' somewhere near the pollen filter. Dealership suspected it happened during the last service with them and so lots of apologies and fixed free of charge.

That’s good to hear. Had it not worked all year since? As an aside there’s no need to park your car during lockdown if similar guidelines come back. There wasn’t ever a legal limit on driving your car to visit a place to exercise or you could take it on a longer shopping run. It doesn’t do us or the car any good to be stuck at home.

did they find the leak? AC systems don't just empty in a short period of time ...

Yes they are obliged by law to do a full system leak check before adding new gas.... hence the price which is reasonable as it was done properly ...

Mine is showing a humidity sensor failure. Aircon works fine, cold air, hot air, it controls the temperature perfectly. I don't understand why it would need such a sensor in the UK ! The aircon system is hardly going to make the air too dry. I'll not get it changed, another poor quality component with a short life.
