Disconnect RTI
I have an XC70 2014. Updating the DVD is not worthwhile as I have a perfectly good Garmin satnav.
Now and again the Volvo RTI screen pops up, probably because the driver's knee has touched the button on the steering wheel. Fuse 17 covers the following, as written RTI control module* RTI Display* Satellite radio*, Digital radio* The star refers to optional accessories. My car has the first 2 and it has a radio but I think it is a digital rather than a satellite one. Presumably, if I remove that fuse, it will disconnect the radio. If that is the case how do I prevent the RTI screen from popping up? Another question relates to my satnav. It can be connected to traffic info but I don't have the necessary cable for that. If the RTI system relays traffic info is it possible to connect my satnav to the RTI system to get it or must it be linked to my iPhone with mobile data switched on? |

I didn’t think the pop up nav’s where fitted after 2012, and the button to turn it on is at the top of the steering wheel, so hard to catch with your knee. More likely the remote control is stuck somewhere and activating the nav occasionally?
From P2 experience, if you pulled the power lead from the control unit, that also killed the screen. |

If there is a simple fix such as pulling a fuse, that would be great. Watching this thread with interest.

You're right, mine was first registered in late 2010 but, technically, it's a 2011 model. There is no longer an edit option to enable me to change my original post! As far as the position of the button is concerned that depends on the position of the steering wheel at the time. At present mine is parked with front wheels facing right and the button is at 9 o'clock. If I were to rotate a quarter to the left to straighten the wheel the button would be at the bottom. It is quite difficult to gain access to the plug on the power lead. I think I would have to unscrew the unit or the frame holding it. |
