Hi all, could anyone offer an opinion on the following, would you go with a 2018 V90 Cross Country D5 55000 miles lower spec or a 2019 V90 Cross Country 88000 miles high spec? both have full Volvo service history and both will come with a 12 month Volvo warranty etc.
many thanks

Having driven some V90s and V90 CCs, I found that the driver's seat in the Inscription was less comfortable than that in the Momentum, because of the adjustable seat length in the Inscription. Even worse was the R Design wherein my posterior told me that it's almost like sitting on a plank.

I therefore decided that only the Momentum was comfortable enough for me, despite the lower spec.

In short, with these SPA-platformed cars, I feel that Volvo's "World's most comfortable car seats" crown has slipped somewhat.

So I would want to compare the seats offered in each vehicle. as they might be different. Then I'd check out whether or not you lose anything that's important to you with the lower trim level.

You might also need to consider how many years you're planning to keep the car, and what the mileage will be at the end.

It's traditionally assumed that a well-maintained Volvo will go on to do starship mileage, but I'm not sure whether or not this is still the case for SPA-platformed Volvos.

If we were talking V70s, however, I'd opt for the newer car despite the higher initial mileage. It's newer and higher spec, and it's a diesel that's designed for and thrives on higher mileages. But I would certainly ensure that the cambelt gets changed before considering the purchase as it's due at 90k miles.

Thanks Sotosound, I hadn't considered the cam belt , I think fewer miles will ultimately be more important in the long run as I plan to keep it for several years.

When I bought my current V70 just over five years ago, it had 98k miles on it IIRC, and it was up against a slightly older lower trimmed car with 146k miles on it.

That higher mileage car had something about it, however, that was a real pull. It just felt tighter and more together and it spoke to me. But at the time I was doing 25k miles a year and I knew that it was just wrong because of that.

So I bought the lower mileage car that now has almost 160k miles on it and that's still as solid as ever. It also spoke to me after a while, so it was the right choice even though I stopped doing high mileages.

Following this with interest as I'm considering replacing my 2011 XC90 and 2015 XC60 with a V90 CC - mainly because I think they're better value than a new shape XC90 or XC60. And D5PP versions are easier to come by.

Very interesting conversation on the seats as that's one of the many reasons why I like Volvo.

Yes I know what you mean, for some reason the higher mileage car just feels and drives better, it’s hard to explain, my average yearly mileage would be in the region of 6-7k so I’m now torn between the two
