Volvo Amazon armoured cable
I know it is possible to remove the ignition barrel from the vehicle then dismount the armoured cable from under the dash, what i do not know ( yet to investigate) is if it is possible to gain access to the wiring within the cable via the back of the igniton housing in order to access the feed to the coil without damaging the cable and or the armour?
I presume it must be terminated in some shape or form in the ignition housing? Any and help much . |

Depends what you call damage. If you want access to the single red wire to add electronic ignition you can carefully drill a 1/2" hole in the centre of the end cap of the coil under the dash and add a wire there. A suitable grommet will make it neat and inconspicuous. New wire can be routed up alongside the coil and to the dizzy/ Pertronix. Something like a flat spot weld drill will cut a hole but not go in far enough to damage the existing connection. Drill carefully.

DS;
The Armored Ign Sys is and anti-theft provision, so by its nature, there is NO access to the coil ign power...if you need access, a certain amount of ingress, or "damage" to this system will be necessary, and you will loose its protection, which you would be well advised to make up for by some other means. The armoured cable must break down in a sense in order to terminate the wire? |

Since you don’t seem to understand the nature of Volvo’s anti-theft protection cable termination, have “yet to investigate”, and don’t seem to believe the experts that have chimed in, I’ll try to make the answer to your original question clear:
No can do without damage, whether neatly done or messy.

The answer is "no".
There are a couple of photos of what you are dealing with in post #235 here. https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/showt...ch#post2705664 Last edited by blueosprey90; Jan 21st, 2024 at 14:56. |
