Default Fault code 1-2-1 on B200F

As far as I know this should be the air mass meter, strangely enough the engine starts first time cold and runs fine, well as fine a sluggish B200 can be in a 240 estate. Any suggestions?

Cheers, Chris

This is what I got on the subject:
1-2-1*
Causes of Fault: Faulty signal to/from Air Mass Meter Wiring fault to or in AMM
Symptoms: Various driving problems; fuel consumption

I had that fault code in a B200 some years ago, diagnosed as the AMM. The car misfired and behaved erratically for a few miles after the light suddenly came on, but on restarting it ran apparently perfectly.
I believe that the computer reverts to a default "limp home" mode. Just because the car is running all right doesn't mean though that it is running at optimum efficiency. It would be worth checking the connector and all other wiring and then resetting the code, but if it persists you have little option but to get a new (or secondhand?) one.
I have read of people "repairing" AMMs by resoldering the hot wire inside, but I don't know if that is a feasible option.

Swaped the battery yesterday and checked the fault code afterwards. Guess what? 1-1-1! If life could always be that easy (and cheap)! Looks I`m just to stupid to reset the system without disconnecting the battery.

Cheers, Chris
