I’m going to do the first oil change on my B230FK.
I’ll be using 10w-40 semi synth of some description. I know the oil filter has to have a NRV. I’ve seen these, they say they have 2 NRV’s. Is this still ok. I’m assuming so. https://www.autodoc.co.uk/bosch/1156013 Regards Richie |

I've literally just written in another thread that Bosch is a brand I wouldn't chuck straight in the bin. And 3/4"x16 UNF is the correct thread. This was standard on all Volvo cars from 1962 until they started using metric much more recently. However, my personal preference would always be for a genuine Volvo OEM filter.

I've also commented on that thread about buying gen Volvo from main dealer
Edit. Just found the invoice and my main dealer gave me a 20% discount which made them £6.80 each !

It looks an awful lot like the OEM one, I'm sure it'll be ok but any reason why you don't go to the dealers for one? They normally have them in stock. Don't forget the sump washer 18818!

I'd stick with the genuine Volvo filter.
While in that area, check the condition of the oil cooler water pipe hoses. A good job to do together as access easier with filter removed. I replaced mine in time as one dripping and both well old. Get well contaminated with oil. James. |

Realtively cheap, so I would go for OEM. It could very well be that other makes are identical with just another print on the outside, but you cannot tell from the outside.
Not a complicated job, but removing the filter can be a bit messy as the access is a bit limited and the filter is mounted horizontally. Make sure to clean any oil from the cooling water hoses, as otherwise they will deteriorate quite quickly. |

I have taken heed and ordered a genuine filter and sump plug washer.
I will inspect the hoses whilst the filter is off. And take it from there. The hoses are about £40 each plus VAT for genuine. So I would probably get the silicone alternatives linked above, in this thread. Thanks for the advice. Much appreciated. Richie |

You should email FRF re the oil cooler hoses
Brookhouse sell them for £14.34 and £11.94 but doesnt state if they are genuine Volvo

I have silicon DO88 hoses which seem to last a lot longer than rubber ones.
Apperantly also available from a UK supplier: https://www.do88.co.uk/product_info....ed2f6f1bc2eefc |
