Default Front Wishbones...?

Hi all.
I was going to fit Poly Bushes to the Wishbones on my 90...But now decided to fit Complete new ones. Dont want the faff of just swapping the Bushes...lol

What would you go for Gen Volvo or Meyle Heavy Duty...? Prices ?

Oh, do we still use the C3 discount code for FRF Volvo Swansea...? Is Rufe (Simon) still there.

Cheers. DB.

Get genuine volvo from FRF , there are tales of steering and brakes pulling to one side and bushes failing after a couple of years on cheap ones, you get what you pay for.👍

Deffo use genuine ones ! I put pattern ones on, on braking the car pulled to the left and steering went to the right !!
I think the complete wishbone's from Volvo are only on an exchange basis.

I too put aftermarket wishbones on mine. Never again. I should have heeded the warnings but I thought they'd be alright. Pulling left and right it was awful. Barely managed a few months before I bought genuine bushes and had them pressed in to the old original wishbones. Local garage near me did it for a few beer tokens and only took them 20 mins. Handles better than ever now.

Don't repeat our mistakes 😂

It's been said.... Genuine all day long, you will likely regret it otherwise.

"Volvo's" lower control arms are made by Lemforder. When you buy "genuine", you're buying a Lemforder part with a Volvo badge and pay more for it, just because of the badge.

Lemforder could be slightly cheaper for that reason, although its the same as what you'll be getting from the dealer anyway.

well someone has to make them.. Volvo have never worked like that though, they go to a manufacturer with a data sheet of exactly what they want for their cars, for every single part, the desired life span, the accuracy of dimensions, the corrosion resistance, the quality and characteristics of the bush or any other part they require etc , this will not be found on the cheaper ones later issued by the parts manufacturer .

Slightly off topic but still related, the rear spring carriers for P3 cars as an example are made of Ali. Obviously due to this they don’t rust ect but Volvo have now changed them just to steel. No dought much cheaper, probably the same spec as what is used on ford cars as you see them heavily rusted on fords.

We like to think we are getting the best when buying genuine but sometimes I do wonder.

Hi, Many years ago i fitted spurious wishbones on a V70, they lasted about three months. On the three XC90s I've had since then I've fitted Powerflex bushes and never had a problem, It's not a job you want to do twice, so definitely genuine or good quality bushes. Hope this helps. Ian
