Well today was not as successful, I had hoped to have the engine out but hey ho, the engine hoist I bought took some building and has no sling, that's now on order.

Just hope the guy who will sand blast it for peanuts will wait. One more weekend and it should be ready. Very excited at getting the welding gear out. Need to start sourcing the parts I want.

Be careful if sand blasting the whole car. It can damage big panels quite a bit with warping etc. Just make sure the guy is aware and knows what he is doing and it should be fine though.

Thanks for the tip, he is only doing the lower third. Sills, floor, inner wings and lower wings which are pretty much lace.

on the transmission side, the 72 was the 1st year the 140s had the short shifter so if you get a hold of the m45-b20 bellhousing you could put in a much more common m46 rather than looking for an m41. those bellhousings are not common but i know there is a place where you can buy them and in sweden i think there are a few cars kicking around with the b20 in '76. we got that bellhousing here in iceland on the c202s (one of which i own) but good luck finding one and then good luck getting the person who owns it to part with any of it...

That looks a pretty solid car really. Have you checked the chassis rails?

Be my guest, your 164RS is the inspiration after all and I suspect from your posts I need all the advice you can give. Don't suppose is was you on the M1 this summer in a Red 740 estate?

Well the fuel tank, exhaust and engine are out. Took a full day with my cuz John without him it couldn't have been done. The plumbing for the autobox proved the trickiest part of the process. Propshaft and 'box out tomorrow. Then its strip back all the engine bay ancillaries and screens out.

Cannot send photos, broke my camera today working on the car.

Today the strip down is very nearly complete, all glass out, interior, Engine bay stripped. Only the infernal propshaft and 'box have thwarted me.

A little more rust than I had hoped for, the windscreen lip is pretty bad where the metal trim clips have worked their magic. The rear screen lip has faired worse with a large hole on the left side.

Will get pics of phone and post them. Anyone with advice feel free to pitch in, its my first restoration and first Volvo so advice is welcome.

Auto box finally out and propshaft wrestled from underneath. Got to borrow a trailer now for sandblasting.

Well finally downloaded some pictures from my phone and now have a good start on shifting the rust. My target is an hour a night in the garage working my from back to front.
