My vote is a typo. why would someone clock a car 3K, it serves no purpose as the car had its 50k service and it would make no difference on the resale value.

Have to agree, no real point in wiping 3,000 miles of it, so more than likely merely a typo.

As an aside, once sold a car with over 150k miles on it and saw it reappear on a forecourt for sale a few weeks later. Stopped to have a look for 'old times sake' and noticed that it had been clocked back to 60k - this was on the older, manual odometers. To say that Trading Standards were less than interested was an understatement.

Typo somewhere - no benefit in clocking by so little. If it was me I wouldn't worry about it

As has already been said, no-one is going to clock a car for 3000 miles!
This is so obviously a simple mistake in the figures.

Phoned dealer B and on their system they have it logged as 47297 being serviced in September, so it would seem not only can the person who filled the logbook out not read their own writing but they don't know which month of the year September is...

Mystery solved though.
