Not mine but I'd be proud to own it.

I think it's done more miles than it looks.

The seller says "not much on the clock". He does not say "low mileage".

And someone asked about the mileage and he didn't give a straight answer - well, no answer at all really.

Default Selling for a friend ?????

I'm always wary when someone on eBay is selling something 'for a friend without Internet access ' or some other reason that they couldn't list it themselves.
( 'He's a new friend I met in the pub for the first time one night, we got on great - No - I don't know his phone number or address' ).

There are LOADS of things on eBay like this - selling for a friend.

Some reasons will be genuine - but it sort of says to me, if problems arise ' Hey, any problems mate, it wasn't me that was selling it, I was just selling it for a friend, don't come back to me '.

I dismiss those listings immediately.

Maybe I'm too sceptical for my own good.

I have dealt with this ebay seller recently and found them to be very helpful. Didn't buy a complete car though, only some parts, but very helpful and went out of their way to fit in with my collection arrangements.
Just my 2 pence worth if it helps!

Yes that is fair comment.

My remarks were not aimed at that listing specifically but were remarks in general about 'for a friend' sales for any items of moderate value on eBay, be it a car or a valuable wris****ch etc.

How strange - on previewing this post I thought - I didn't type **'s there then I realised why they appeared.

The word is wrist watch.

Reminds me of an old joke about tea in China and a North Lincolnshire town beginning with S.

If Typhoo put all the tea in China who put all the ...... - well I'll leave it for you to work it out.

I bought this. It was a mega mega bargain. I've never seen a 2 series in this condition, there can't be many around like it. Only thing that lets it down is the old boy who owned it has gone mad with black paint on the bumpers, but that can be sorted.

It's my new project. It'll be a shame to do what I'm gonna do to it, but it's going to be fun!

I think you and CrazyC have a fantastic attitude to cars, I'm sure Volvophile and Steve with a 244 will love you forever, being built like a tank, it will hopefully last several races
