Default Front suspension overhaul

Hi all, bit of a long shot but does anyone recognise this front axle assembly. It's been fitted to a recently purchased Ford F100 from 1953 and have no history only that it is Volvo. I think it could be 140 as the upper and lower joint are pressed in not riveted .Please let me know what you think your help is welcomed.

My 140 isn't here so can't check properly but unless it is your addition, the 140 range doesn't have rack and pinion steering.
Also the entire front suspension on the 140 range is fitted on a chunky cross-member: can't quite see from your pics. I idly wondered if it could partly consist of 240 swivels. Will have a look and report back.

It defiantly 140 or possibly 164 with what appears several modifications.

Just looking at the photos the roll bar link rod attachments have been modified and some extra bolts located in the cross member all the 100 series cars had a steering box and rods not the rack as shown.

One other item I see is that there are several washers under the bottom ball joint lock nut which I think would fail an MOT.

Yes - I see its an Amazon cross-member now: the fact that the pics are upside down threw me! Checked my spare this morning and confirm, but they didn't have rack-and-pinion steering so that must be from something else.

Have a closer look! It is definitely not a Amazon one. It is from a 140 or 164. If vented disc it is from a 164, non vented from a 164. The bracket to mount the brake caliper and the hub are one peace -> 140/164. The parts where the crpss member is screwed to the body is 140/164 too, Amazon is completely different. I'm really interested to know about the r&p steering. Looks good in geometry, so fare I can have a look on this pics. Do you find any marks/sign or anything to know from which company this rack and pinion is orginally truckdoctor?
The anti roll is not from a 140/164.
Regards, Kay

Not Amazon if the outer ball joints are pressed in. Amazon ones, top and bottom, are bolted in.

This one are pressed in. Normaly the tie rod/steering rod is mounted from the lower side, this one from the upper! Steerung arm and hub/knuckle(?) is one peace, Amazon ones are seperate parts too.
Something is strange, the washers, the balljoints of the steering rods

I managed to find the builder on facebook that did the build work on this over ten years ago and he confirms it is not amazon. The steer rack is inverted ford Granada mounted on brackets welded to the widened by 8 inches cross member. It looks to me that the geometry is incorrect and will have lot of "bump steer"
As for the ball joint having many washers, well when I strip it down we shall see but probably incorrect parts . The ARB fouls the inside rims of the wheels and has new mountings welded the lower wishbone, so this will need attention also.
Thank you all for you info, I'll post up the strip down procedure, soon.

Just a thought on stripping it all down, any links available that gives an idea, like if spring compressors are needed. It was my plan to lower the bottom wishbone with the trolley jack.
