Default extra rear seats in Amazon?

Hi Folks,
I was wondering if any estate owners could tell me if it would be possible to install rear facing seats into an amazon?

cheers,Mike

I'm sure it's possible, but I think it would involve a lot of fabrication work for the fold out seat etc, and then there's also the issue of what to do with the spare wheel.... It can be located vertically on the boot side (that's what the recessed hole on the side panel below the window is for), but it's very obtrusive. If you want to recess it, as on a 245, that will involve a lot of hacking of the boot floor & structure (on the offside though, as on the nearside the fuel filler would be in the way). Although Amazon saloons have a spare in the ideal location, those panels wouldn't help as the rear structure is very different on estates. There's also the safety issue of headrests for the back seat - I'd definately want them if I had a third row of rear facing seats, to avoid accidental headbutting under heavy breaking.

Also, have you spoken to your insurers? Obviously they would be happy with the correct Volvo seat in a Volvo that is designed to have them, but will they like a home built one?

Much easier to just sit on the drop down tailgate, with your feet hanging out the back - done this when I was a child & it's great fun!!!!!
