Default Vibration noise and loss of power

I can't figure this problem out, which happened just today. It started as a low noise, vibration-type, from the front. It's not engine since it's not there at rest, you can only hear it at over 40-50 mph. Exhaust is fine. Then the whole car seemed heavier, sluggish. Now just after you've picked up the clutch from first, I can feel a vibration-wobble as you press the gas. The front brake is also squeaking a bit when you brake heavily.

I'm not sure how much of this is connected, but I hope you all have some ideas. Thanks.

Smile It may be your clutch or propshaft

Hi,

If you loose power it can be oil contamination on your clutch plate. This causes a judder when you pull away, and obviously if it slips you are loosing power.

Have a look underneath and look for oil leak on bottom of flywheel housing. If you have a B18, you should be able to remove a small elipitical plate on the bottom, shine a light up and have a look.

Anothetrthing can be the propshaft bearing has gone.

Jack the car up, put on axle stands and run the car in gear. Carefully look underneath and see if the bearings are noisey, or the shaft is vibrating a great deal.

If its none of these then this will need a more concerted effort to track the faults from engine, all the way back to diff...

Good luck
