Unhappy oops !

Well, after finally curing the cutting out problem on my 122s ,fitted new fuel line and got rid of the sharp curve over wishbone and emptied tank of crud. I had a fantastic time wafting round some good country roads along the side of the river tay.
My joy was short lived sadly, didn't cut out but somehow i've managed to disconnect the overdrive lockout which makes sure it only works on fourth....can you guess where this is going ? Yes i took a wrong turn while exploring and had to reverse up a road and round a corner. (hangs head in shame) so now i'm in the delightful position of having no overdrive and about one chance in ten of getting reverse gear, mostly i just get i wirring clunking noise. Which i don't doubt is a very expensive noise.
Gutted !
Does anybody have any idea about the likely cost of a gearbox rebuild? i imagine the overdrive is junk now, having read in every instruction manual never ever to reverse in overdrive, i hate to think about its poor innards.

Hope your all having more luck with your swedes !

Heartbreaking! Don't despair , however : I've seen 2nd hand OD boxes going for as little as £30- £40 as "unknown quantities" : keep scanning e-bay , parts fairs etc. If you get lucky , you might find one that will revive with little more than a change of oil , a clean filter and a new solenoid..... Scant consolation , maybe , but the best I can think of by way of "tea and sympathy".....

Just as a cautionary note for others , the original Volvo Owner's Manual for Overdrive models advised that Overdrive should always be disengaged below 40 MPH , even in 4th gear.

Austingipsy , hope you manage to sort things out without breaking the bank.

As far as I am aware if you diconnect the wire on the gearbox for the switch to engage overdrive in fourth, it means that it wont engage overdrive and not actualy be stuck in overdrive. When you move the gearstick out of fourth it breaks the circuit just the same as disconnecting the wire..
