Default A/C upgrade??

Hi!

Mark again. I still don't even have the car but I am already dreaming about the work I will do.

First up: It's been 100 degrees this summer way too often! I've gotten very spoiled with A/C in my cars.

Project 122 does not have A/C but there is this unit on e-bay. If I snap up the car and snap up this A/C unit, will it be an easy bolt on?

You may get tired of the questions soon. Like a little kid with a new toy, I am.

It's the first time that I have seen someone selling a/c that is alleged to fit a 120. I do note that the system that you are looking at uses the banned R12 refrigerant rather than the modern R131. You will need to check that it is still available.

I am starting a project to put a/c into my 122 and will do it slowly (est 2 years) using a modern system from a Land Rover Discovery. It is complicated but quite possible.

You can still get that banned AC gas if you know the right people as its still used in military vehicles.

Default R12 availability

You can still get R12 in the US. It is just VERY expensive. $75-$100 a pound.

I didn't bid anyway - so I'll worry about that later.

I would imagine it would not be all to difficult to fit air con from a 2 7 or 9 series. It would just be a case of mounting the pump fitting a belt and plumbing it all in.

Exclamation AC Suicide

PLEASE "GAM" Stay away from the unit in the ad, you could build up a reliable system with the help of someone that has some refrigaration experiance. The Piston Compressor unit as in the add is ****E to say the least. Will Cost you, BHP and reliabilaty !!!!!!!!!! (Gas not even mentioned)
