Default Amazon Cars?

Hi, I recently heard of an Amazon specialist in Harlesden, NW London, called Amazon Cars?/Nick Yarrel? & am having a lot of difficulty in trying to get any contact details for them / him, & wondered if anyone in the forum had a telephone number &/or email / www. for them?

Thank-you

The only business I've heard of that uses the name " Amazon Cars " is based in Norfolk . It was started by a very nice chap named Nick Yandell , who retired a few years ago , selling the business on to Rob and Emma Henchoz ( who are equally nice !). This may be who you are thinking of.

Toby,

dilip122S is right - Amazon Cars is now run by Rob & Emma Henchoz. http://www.amazoncars.co.uk/

If you want an Amazon specialist in London, as far as I know there's only the following:

Tony Barrett / South Service, which is now part of Braydon Motors in Hackney http://www.volvocarparts.co.uk
020 85257283

Noddy / Deaconcraft, ex head mechanic of Tony's, who set up on his own when Tony moved to Braydon. Based under the arches next to Stamford Brook tube.
07725 043234

Chris Hart / L & H Motors, Putney. Don't have his contact details though - I'm sure someone else will!

Hope this helps,

Paul

My red two-door Amazon was Nick's originally, who restored it. Although I arrived on the Amazon scene after he retired and didn't know him.

Nick's retirement was a great loss to the Amazon scene : an encyclopaedic knowledge of Volvos , and literature , from which he would quote at the unlikliest times : I seem to remember a quote from George Orwell popping into a discussion about B20 flywheels......
His place in Norfolk was quite something , too : Every Amazon part you could imagine was available , although one had to brave the "organised chaos" of Nick's shelving system to retrieve what one needed , which was a sort of adventure in itself......for some reason , almost everything seemed to be priced at £8.00 , regardless of size , weight etc.!

Best of all , though , were the various semi-restored Amazons that always seemed to be outside , and were usually for sale for ridiculously small sums of money. They tended to be tantalisingly close to being in an MOT-able condition ( often having already benefited from Nick's "workmanlike" welding.) and they all used to shout "Take me home , Daddy !" (well , they did to me , anyway.)
Round the back were all the "breakers " ie: wrecked Amazons that were slowly giving of themselves , that others might live.. and I think there must have been an example of almost every model of Amazon out there.....all in all , a very cool place run by a very cool guy.

Nick's wonderful supply of parts went to Rob and Emma , of course , and they have been augmenting it and organising it ever since , making them definitely worth the trip up from London IMHO. Just down the road from them , Nick's old business partner , Brian Gue is still in business too , and he has probably forgotten more about Amazons than I'll ever know......Once again , worth the trip , even from London.

I do apologise for waxing nostalgic........actually , no , I don't ! I'm a classic car enthusiast , it's what we do !
