100%

Definitely a garage job, you have to lower the subframe to get at it. Garage told me was a real pain in the arse job. Billed me 130 labour iirc, i supplied parts myself. Bunged them a tip on top to get a drink as they looked exhausted lol

Obviously do both pipes at same time would be insane not to

Asked about a 2004 XC70 parked with no plates at a farm. Said to have <200K, "replaced" transmission from a known shop, junkyard engine.....sitting for 3 years on 4 new tires.
A friend of mine who's a neighbor of his urged me to check thoroughly as "Mr. Smith" cannot maintain machinery.
I'm going back with my reader and have a look.
Is black smudge all about the engine bay a sign of bad intercooler?

Replaced rear shocks, resprayed bump strips back to black all round, amazing how many years that takes off the car, looks almost brand new again now

Replaced gear lever and handbrake gaiter, another few years taken off the interior

Stripped apart rear door cards to respray the horrific fake wood strips and reupholster the saggy material. Will do separate post on that when done all 4

Replaced a PAS pump on a mate's P3 V70.
Not much fun, give me a P2 to work on any day.

I have now exited Volvo ownership after 15+ years and 6 Volvos.
My P2 V70 was the best car I ever owned. Not cheap to run in petrol/auto, especially being an 07 model. Sold it earlier this year at 200k+ as it was ageing and probably needed '000s in the near future. Bought a V60CC diesel, which I hated, so have now moved that on.
In retrospect I should have spent the money on a decent refresh of the V70, rather than buying a newer car. It may have been an easier choice if i had owned a P2 facelift model from the lower tax period.
So my valedictory post is to thank this forum for the great advice and resource that helped me with everything from jammed ignition keys, dodgy alarms, changing the front control arm bushes and the Gibbons method, to mention but a few. Thanks folks.

Charles

Default Repaired the alarm siren!

Today I repaired my s60 2003 failing alarm siren by using a 7.2v lipo battery I had laying around from an old RC car.

2mins of swapping the connector over and its back, good as new. No false alarm triggers and no more message on dash.

I did try putting 2 18650 batteries together from an old laptop battery, but they were just too big...live and learn

Front bumper off to get access to the module was so much easier than trying to get that security screw out!

Saved a few £££ today, happy chappy.

Thumbs up

Fitted an electrically operated driver side seat to the V70, plus a more bolstered passenger side seat. The wife loves it, as she doesn't slide around the seat any more, when I take a "spirited" corner.🤣🤣

Did you notice any difference?
I felt an increase in tightness of steering. Not essential but worth it.
