Default Volvo On Call - Android app

While I'm waiting (impatiently!) to take delivery of my XC90 tomorrow, I installed the Volvo On Call app on my phone and checked it out in demo mode.

A few things struck me -

1) The reviews on the Google Play Store are really quite mixed. Some people seem very happy indeed while others complain about very slow updates and actions, and even incorrect feedback from the car (e.g. app says doors unlocked when they're not). Does anyone have recent practical experience about how well/badly this app works, specifically with the XC90?

2) Other reviewers mentioned a year's free trial followed by a substantial annual subscription. What?!? I haven't seen that anywhere in my XC90 information. Is a subscription only for 'lesser' Volvo's

3) In the app itself I noticed the ability to change unit settings between Metric, American or Imperial. But when I selected Imperial, as well as getting miles, gallons, etc I got temperature in Fahrenheit. Is there any way to get miles, gallons and Celsius? The only time Celsius appears to be presented is if you go for Metric, but then you get litres, kilometres etc.

Anyone got any experience or advice?

Thanks in advance (and I'm counting down the minutes ...)

I am using the app along with the add-on Android wear (watch) facility.

The unlock facility of the app activates the boot handle then once this is depressed the rest of the car unlocks, I have played around with it tonight and have no issues.

Secondly I believe different countries have different schemes for the volvo on call, from memory ours are active for three years as to what it will cost after that I am unsure.

Finally the demo kind of gives a taster of what the app could do rather than what it can do. For example the remote start is a no go in the UK. I have mine set for imperial and do get temperature updates in centigrade.

One issue I do have with Android Wear is that when the temperature drops below a certain level I get a prompt on my watch to start pre heating the car (temperature shown in centigrade), my car does not have this facility and apparently it is a software fault of the app and is been addressed.

Is this app and volvo on call standard equipment? I have a reasonably high spec t8 due to me soon but didnt consciously choose it as an option. Does anyone know what I will get and what functionality it will have? I have an android phone. Thanks.

In the UK, 3 years VOC comes as standard on all XC90 models. Can't comment on Android app functionality as I have IOS and Windows (Windows has much less functionality than IOS, can't switch from metric to imperial for instance).
