Default Wheel downsize?

My XC60 T8 was specced with 22" wheels which look great but I'm finding are too unforgiving for the local pot holes and high curbs. I've been thinking about replacing them with some smaller wheels and All Season tyres.
I know that my car has bigger brakes than standard XC60 so 18" are a bit of a gamble but 19/20" seem to be OK?
Also, genuine Volvo wheels are expensive, even secondhand, so been looking at Jaguar FPace wheels which seem compatible, centre bore, bolt spacing, offset etc.
Just wondered if anyone has gone down this route and can offer any pointers or warnings...
And yes I will tell my insurance company.

As a starting point, check out the section in your Volvo Owners Manual that lists Approved Wheel and Tyre Sizes. They are engine/transmission-specific but there is no mention of who should manufacture or supply them.

For peace of mind I would call your insurers and get them to add a note to your file.

Direct Line seemed quite bored when I rang them about my planned downsizing!

I think I can navigate around the technical fitting issues but I'm not sure what putting a "thicker" tyre will do to the ride and handling.
The Volvo approved wheel and tyre list for the T8 includes a 19" wheel so I'm reassured it is possible.
Does anyone know if its possible to recalibrate the speedo for slightly different rolling radius?

Volvo dealers can address this. Not sure they really needed to say "must" below?

"When changing to new wheel dimensions, new software must be downloaded. Updates speedometer, steering gear and tyre dimensions. Ordered according to separate procedure and downloaded using VIDA."

If you look up your chosen dimensions in Volvo's accessories/wheels list it will give a part number.

You can also update with VDASH. Make sure the offset of the wheels are the same otherwise you might put pressure on the bearings.

After taking out a few tyres due to potholes I downsized to 20s, thing to note on 22s is that also comes with a body kit and extended track width so you'll want to maintan the offset and wheel width for similar stance.

Options are listed in the manual I went down to 20s

https://www.volvocars.com/uk/support...a8015131a01e28

You'll want options in the 38-43 offset region to fill out the extended arches. I just went aftermarket wheels in 9" on 255s.

Normal T8s have normal brakes, only Polestar is bigger, as for calibration, all the tyre options listed as approved are less than 1% out, so margin of error stuff.

my xc60 came with 22" and I replaced it with 18"

one volvo dealer said it have to be 22"

other dealer said it is possible to fit it with 21 20 19 18

I bought 4 new 18 wheels and tyres from volvo dealer without updating the system

so far so good no problems at all

check the speed with mobile speed application only 2 miles different on 70m

I keep forgetting to do this but I have some nice diamond cut 19 inch alloys with one or two spots of curb rash that I’m keen to get rid of. Keep forgetting to do something about it but.

All wheel sizes should work across v90C,xc90 and xc60 I believe.

Do you have a part number and price please?
Can you ship to me? I'm near Bournmouth so just about as far away as you can get!

No, only some wheels will fit even within a single model range. For example, cars with T8 engines have larger discs that limit which size wheels can be fitted.
