Default Delivery Times

Hi
New to the forum having recently ordered my first new car and first Volvo. Ordered a V60 Recharge and interested in what people's experience is of order to delivery times. On the order form I had an estimated date of 30th November which seemed quite long but, with the chip shortage issues, maybe not.

I spoke to my dealer last week about mine and he happened to mention that an order placed now would have a delivery of late November, so it sounds as if there’s a consistent message.
It’s about the same length of time that I’ll have waited so, whilst its a bit of a pain, I don’t think it’s anything abnormal. I waited 9 months for a new RAV4 a couple of years ago, and that was before any chip shortage.

Well at least it's consistent in that case. When i enquired in July is sounded like it would only be 2 months. I did also have the 360 camera specced which was something that seemed to lead to orders being cancelled earlier this year, so as long as it does get delivered as specced i'll be happy.

I’ve got a 360 camera on my order, with a delivery expected in late Sept, so I’m hoping, as you are. I ordered in mid-June when, it would seem, they’d just decided that it could be included again.

That's very helpful to know, as it sounds like 3 months is pretty much to be expected in that case. Fingers crossed you get yours delivered as expected next month. Do you know where yours is being built? Mines a v60 so should be Belgium or Sweden but the dealer told me it would be being built in China, which I don't think is true. May well be some components coming from China that they need but I can't see anywhere that they build the whole V60 in China.

Mines an XC60, and I’m pretty sure it’s coming from Gothenburg. I’d heard that all Recharge models are built in China, so it’s entirely plausible. Apparently, all China-built cars come overland on the train.

Ah that is interesting, sounds like it must be then. I hope the train is on time in that case.

Does that include the Polestar Engineered models do you know? I thought I'd seen some pictures of PE models rolling off the assembly line of the Swedish factory. I could well be wrong though!

Incidentally, typically how long from order/before build is it usual to wait before getting confirmation of a build slot?

XC60 Recharge do seem to be coming from China. Mine was built earlier this week and is scheduled to arrive 19th September. A 5 week lead time for delivery seems to me like it’s coming from China 😊

When you ordered then, you are given an actual build date week? At what point after ordering did you get this? As I ordered mine a couple of weeks ago now but have not received a week for build yet.
