For sale is my beloved 1966 volvo amazon 122s genuine twin carb model with added overdrive for 90mph motorway cruising and rear seat belts.

If you are looking for an everyday classic car and you are not sure what car is best suited, look no further than the volvo amazon. They are truly the most practical classic car ever made with spares readily available for body or mechanical. I have owned various classics over the years and when I stumbled across the amazon I was truly amazed as these cars tick all the right boxes for use as an every day car or even just for weekend use.

The car has ten months mot & tax. I have around thirteen years of past mot papers included

I fitted an overdrive gearbox about three years ago. Amazons that was fitted with overdrive from the factory had a lower rear axle ratio so fitting an overdrive onto a non overdrive car gives better motorway cruising at lower revs and giving better economy. This car will cruise all day at 90 mph with no trouble and will give 34 mpg on a long run.

The car is also fitted with a stainless steel exhaust as well.

There is also the added benefit of fitted rear seat belts which is a real plus if you have children as I do.

The headlights are fitted with more powerfull bulbs so night driving is a dream.

There is also a modern stereo connected to a ten disc cd multichanger that is fixed in the boot. This being the only thing changed from when the car has left the factory.

I have owned this vehicle for the last four years and it has been used as my every day car ever since. It has been used on long journeys regularly and has never let me down. I bought the car off an old man that was like me, an amazon enthusiast, he kept the car in tip top order and did his own servicing which I have carried on since owning it.

The underside of the vehicle is unmolested and for a fourty year old car is in outstanding condition.

Mechanicaly the car is in very good order with no rattles or clonks and stops as it should. There are no whines or other problems from the back axle or gearbox and the overdrive works as it should. I have serviced the car myself as I have always done with my cars and kept it well maintained. Always fitting genuine volvo oil filters. The car is completely water tight and the heater is of the usual high quality. All gauges and swithes work.

The wheels could do with sand blasting and repainting which I am hopeing to get done before the end of the auction.

THE BODY WORK IS VERY ORIGINAL AND HAS NEVER BEEN WELDED. UNDERNEATH THE FLOOR AND CHASSIS IS IN NEAR PERFECT CONDITION WITH NO WELDING OR BODGERY ANYWHERE. THERE ARE NO HIDDEN NASTIES EITHER. I KNOW MY AMAZONS VERY WELL AND THIS CAR IS A TRULY GENUINE GOOD EXAMPLE. THE UNDERNEATH IS IN REMARKABLE CONDITION WITH NO WELDING ANYWHERE. THE SILLS ARE ORIGINAL AND RUST FREE. THE REAR WHEEL ARCHES ARE ALSO RUST AND FILLER FREE AND APPEAR TO HAVE NEVER BEEN REPAIRED.

THERE ARE ONLY A FEW SMALL BLEMISHES ON THE WHOLE CAR INSIDE AND OUT. CONSIDERING THIS CAR HAS BEEN USED EVERYDAY FOR THE PAST THREE YEARS OR MORE SUMMER AND WINTER EVERY DAY, IT SHOWS THE REAL QUALITY OF THIS VEHICLE. THERE SHOULD BE NO NEED FOR ANY MAJOR EXPENSE FOR A LONG TIME TO COME.

THE DOOR BOTTOMS ON ALL FOUR DOORS ARE IN NEAR PERFECT ORIGINAL CONDITION WITH NO FILLER. THE INNER WINGS ARE ORIGINAL AND IN VERY GOOD ORDER. THE REAR WHEEL ARCHES ARE ALSO RUST FREE. THE BOOT AND BOOT AREA IS ALSO IN VERY GOOD ORDER.

THE INTERIOR IS IN TRULY REMARKABLE CONDITION AS WELL AS THE FLOOR MATTING. EVEN THE DOOR CARDS ARE IN NEAR MINT CONDITION. THE HEAD LINING IS ALSO VERY GOOD. THE INTERIOR HAS TO BE ONE OF THE BEST AROUND FOR AN ORIGINAL EXAMPLE, ALTHOUGH SOME STITCHING HAS COME UNDONE ON THE REAR SEAT BACK TOP, BUT THIS IS EASILY RECTIFIED. THE DASH TOP ALSO HAS THE USUAL CRACKS. THERE ARE TWO CRACKS, ONE ALMOST UNNOTICABLE, THE OTHER IS SLIGHTLY LARGER.

This car is being used as an every day car and up until now has been my only car so the car is not in concours condition, but if you want an amazon that will truly last you a lifetime then this could be for you, as there are no hidden nasties and the car hasn't been painted for a long while so although the paint is not perfect in a few places, the car is hiding nothing. The chrome bumpers could do with a rechrome but there is no rot and they are far from needing replacing as they are the original bumpers and not the usual cheap flaky chrome that you often see.

The rest of the chrome and bright work is in super condition.

Basicaly the car is in fine order but I would recomend viewing for piece of mind, but if you bid blind and don't like what you see then I will be ok if you walk away as long as a £100 non returnable deposit is paid before collection using paypal or a cheque. Although the cheque will need to be cleared first. This is to cover the charges from ebay for selling the item, as I don't mind hanging onto it for a while longer. However I have tried to be honest about the description and although you could pick at small faults, this car is in my opinion in extremely good genuine condition

THE CAR IS ON EBAY AT THE MOMENT FOR £2500. IF IT DOES NOT SELL THE ASKING PRICE IS £2500.
