Default B4 vs B5 in V60CC - thoughts?

Hello-

I am in the final stages of picking up a v60CC and am having trouble choosing between a b5 and b4 engine. Its challenging enough to find any v60cc to test drive but i cant find a b5.

The increase in HP seems significant...is it worth it? Any thoughts between the two?

Anything else to consider?

Thank you.

There is a noteable difference between the two in my opinion. The B4 feels a little underpowered for the size of the car, or at the very least feels more lethargic than a B5. I think the B5/T5 engine was the sweet spot for the range. Enough power to feel quick but also not too much to be over the top.

Obviously would be best to drive and compare both engines but I understand the difficulty in finding the cars to test drive. I’d say if you can afford a B5, or the price difference isn’t too big, go for the B5.

Only time I’d choose a B4 is if I was buying used and found a dream, difficult to find spec, and the deal was one of those that you’d be a fool to reject

I am in a similar place and have only been looking at B4's recently, as I drive about 15000 miles a year so thought the diesel would be better. Interestingly I've found more B5s than B4s for sale.

However, as a follow on to this post, what sort of mpg do B5 drivers get from the V60CC on a motorway run?

First, you should define the fuel. Diesel or petrol? Both the B4 and B5 have petrol and diesel variants.

I don't believe B5 diesel was ever available in the UK at least.. (Not in a V60CC)

I opted for the B5 V60CC, the engine has plenty of power and useful if you have a full car. The B4 isn't a bad alternative at all though. These V60 CCs are great cars and both of us love driving ours. If the spec for a B5 and B4 were the same I would opt for the B5.
